Securing Sustainable Water for All” held on 17th and 18th November, 2015.

Today, Hisaar Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of the Conference Declaration and Report of the two-day International Water Conference, aimed to ensure water security and sustainable water for all in Pakistan.

The Conference Declaration calls upon the government to develop and implement a national water policy and declare the next decade (2016-2025) as the decade of water development and water sharing for all.

It also highlighted that pro-poor development in Pakistan will have to start with water development and strengthening the water economy. We have to narrow the gap between research and policy, and strengthen the Universities for Water Network. The declaration endorsed Hisaar Foundation’s vision of building the Hisaar Institute of Inter-Disciplinary Studies on Water for conducting innovative scientific, engineering and especially social scientific research on water. The conference focused specifically on gender and youth, and resolved that women’s strengths should be leveraged to meet water needs of all levels.

The Conference Declaration was launched by Mr Zohair Ashir, Chairman, Hisaar Foundation, Simi Kamal, Founder Chair and Chair of Academic Committee, Hisaar Foundation and by Sanaa Baxamoosa, General Manager, Hisaar Foundation.

This international water conference 2015 was a follow-up to the previous water conference held in December 2013 entitled “Water Cooperation in Action – From the Global to the Grassroots”, and shall be followed by the 2018 water conference based on the 2018 UN Water theme “Nature Based Solutions on Water – Replenishing Earth’s Soil and Soul”.
